Vieja maculicauda?

Well I was at the LFS tonight and they just got a few of these guys in and I guess they weren't labeled. I told them I thought they were Black Belts but I'm sort of new to Vieja. I decided to pick one of them up as it was only $3 bucks and I've always wanted one. So tell me what you guys think, Vieja maculicauda or something else?

Your ID is correct. Hope you've got a big tank! These guys get huge and are mean as hell.

Thanks. I'm not really sure what these guys usually go for at this size but it's a little over 2 inches long.

nice fish, i just saw a big boy of this fish and it was goin for a hefty price of 80, it was a lil beat up too, so im sure it wuld be a pricy fish if healthy and big, nice buy!

Thanks. I really do love the look of the adults as well. I've been wanting to try a new cichlid species for a while so I hope this little guy works out for me.
