I was curious if there were any Vieja or Paratheraps that could be kept in a 75 gallon, whether be a pair by themselves, or a single male with some other smaller fish. i love the colors on some of these species and will be setting up a 75 gallon very soon, just trying to figure out what I can/want to keep in the tank.

Thanks!!

My breeding pair of Zonatus have been in a 75 for 6 months now. Eventually, yes, I will need to relocate them. Vieja & Paratheraps all get to 14+", so having a full grown male in it would be tough. But if you buy one young, you have about 1.5 years before you need to upgrade.

Well if it's a growout situation that opens up just about anything. ;)

V. heterospila are one of the smaller Vieja, but very hard to find right now.

Sounds fine, just do it. Sounds sensible enough, not like you are asking to fit 5 of them in there.
I've found viejas grow quite slowly anyway, especially after the 12" mark.

Just upgrade them when they look too big.

VIEJA HETREROSPILLA male or female you could even build a small community around one of these fish. jeff rapps may have some

I think I am going to have to go another route. I dont want to get into fish getting to big for my tank, I dont see myself upgrading to anything bigger anytime in the future at this pt. I would love to but just dont have the extra time and space. Thanks for all your responses.

its wierd that people say that a single veja would be too much for a 75 when alot of people will keep trimacs and other fish that hit the 14+ inch range in a 75. I had a large redhead(12") in my 75 for a while and he was fine. I agree that bigger is better but very possible to keep a veja in a 75 as long at decor is low and filtration is high
