Oregon, it's part of 'Murica!
Local store had a couple mystery Vieja so I grabbed one. Listed as "Synspilus P. Melanurus" which I know for a fact its not either of the two fish its being sold as. I am thinking its Bifasciatus but I am not 100%.

the spotting makes me think bifa, these smaller fish are tough to ID.it could also be a hybrid

Unfortunately these are all hybrids. I bought a group of them from the same source labeled as Melanurum and grew them out to a decent size.
They all had different coloring, black markings and some slight head shape differences as well. Not surprising they grew hyper fast. Very colorful fish, but a mix of most likely Synspilum and Bifasciatum. The supplier got them in small and probably didn't know any better then what the were sold as (At least I hope) Although he has a pretty iffy reputation here in Oregon, depending on who you talk to. You wont be disappointed if you want a colorful active fish.

Here's one that had a lot of the same coloration but not as much Bifas black markings. Some individuals were even all blue.

Looks very nice, exactly what mine looks like. Yeah I not too picky about it being a hybrid but I was looking for a nice little colorful Vieja/P. Would love to be able to make the trip up to Wet Spots for some Syns and Argenteas but thats not likely.

Any other pictures of them later on?

They had a few decent sized Syns a few weeks back, but no big Argentea, only 1.25" ers. I think there are still a few siblings to your fish at the store I donated them. PM me if you need the info.
