I always thought of Pearsi as Herichthys as they are closely related to Bocourti.

ive always seen them under the species name Herichthys, and it would make sense since they are similar to bocourti's

They have been tossed from Genus to Genus like many Herichthys/Paratheraps/Vieja species.

According to www.fishbase.org Herichthys pearsei is the current Genus.

Sorry guys but that was a mistake, it's not vieja although it could end up there, there's still some debate. Pearsei still comes under ex cichlasoma, as does Bocourti.

yeah I was gonna say...I opened that link and only see argentea, heterospilus, maculicauda, regani, and ufermanni. I wouldn't be surprised if pearsei and bocourti are moved to Vieja though...

hehehe suckers i knew it the whole time!

interesting. I have a maculicada and pearsei pair...
