Pics of the two Vieja I have. The Regani has really started to grow - now 7-8 inches - doesn't really bother anyone, nor does anyone bother it. It suffered major damage to the top of the tail fin when young, but has recovered well, other than a little disfigurement. It killed it's sibling when it was two inches in one day - crazy conspecific aggression. The Synspilum (assuming female based on head at this size) - now 9-10 inches - is #2 in dominance in the tank, behind a Midas - even keeps a similar sized but chunkier sized Chancho in check.

Veija are always so pretty. Just have never had the patience to keep them. Just to used to Amphilophus...

Keith --

How long have you had the Regani? Give us an idea on growth rate? I have 2, and they grew VERY slowly until I moved them into my 540 from my 125. I think it was coincidence that they hit a growth spurt right when I moved them, but hard to say.

It was about 2" TL when I got it from COTA in June of 2016 (so 5-6" of growth in 14 months). But I can tell you that it grew very slow and only recently took off. It may be more confident now, but has always been a good eater. I never saw anyone pick on it, but it took a major shot to it's tail fin when young, and it took a while to recover. It has been in the 300 it's whole life, but I have been reducing the stock lately - potentially that has helped. I have no idea if it is a male or female. I see the same thing w/ Festae - slow, slow, slow and then spurt!
