I went into a Petland Aquarium Adventure to buy some medication and while I was there saw some Vieja synpsium. I've seen a lot mislabeled fish in this store and was wondering if this is what they say it is.

I've had these fish in the past but I had them full grown never bought this small.

They're asking 14.99 but I have a coupon for 40% off for all fish. So I might just buy 3-4 and let them pair off

Yep. Look like Syn's to me. That diagonal bar, 1/3 of the body length, angling down a bit, that's a dead giveaway. They're starting to get some color, too.

buy 'em. syn's grow really fast, fastest growing fish I've ever had.

Cool. I bought some thai cichlids from a guy and had vieja for 1$ at that size. He has hundreds. I should've bought some at that time but didn't want to increase my bio load at one time and crash the cycle.

Yeah agree with above definitely synspilum.
I had a group and they do grow quick.Mine grew from an inch to around 12 inch in a year.

Get several of them if you can. They have alotta variation in body shape, and the males look much better than the females. You'll want to grow some out and pick the best one. I bought 2, they both ended up being females. I have one left now. She's a cool fish, she's mostly in charge of the tank, but her colors are drab and washed out. And she looks like a football--not good shape at all.
