Well, my LFS has one of these in, quite large, not sure if its male or female.. Or if that really matters for this species. It doesn't have the best pattern on it, but i think if I got it home and fed it right it would color up and still look pretty nice.

Well... I first noticed it hiding in a corner behind a large rock, I looked in the upper left corner of the tank, because I saw some tails flickering (Its on one of the bottom tanks, had to lean down) and I see 1RD 2Midas and a super lowgrade FH cowering in a corner, missing almost every bit of every fin and a good amount of scales. Apparently this guy went to town on the tank, all the fish in there are his size or larger.

So, never kept one... I read they max out at 12" I had no idea they were that aggressive as well.

Any thoughts ? Its $30.

Also, this fish isn't usually a glassbanger correct ?

i dont know that mucha about the fish but ive heard that your correct, its no glass banger, $30 is good for it i would go for it, also fish never show there true colours in the LFS.

SOOOOO....... ill be waiting for pics?

Not entirely sure yet, its a nice fish.

This LFS is actually pretty good though... They feed their fish Hikari Gold, Krill and for their big fish they wanna color up and sell, Market Shrimp.

Im really thinking about it though... I'll know what Im going to do tomorrow for sure, the options are that fish, or re aquascape my tanks, both sound like great ideas.

My Syn was fine untill it wanted to mate to the female BP then all hell broke loose and I had to put a divider in untill I could return him to his former owner. IMO they are a very nice semi aggressive cichlid well worth the risk.

They're a more mild vieja, yes. But since 90% of all vieja are hell raisers, that's not saying much. :)

14" is pretty easily obtained for a mature syn, and they're thick.

Thanks for the input.

I've decided to redo my tanks instead, IM happy with the Butti, but I may unload a FH or trade it for something else... Im sure I could sell the FH for a nice amount pretty easily.

Tanks look MUCH better now... I'll see if I can snag a pic, but I think the camera needs a new battery.

The Butti is really happy, my FH is sulking.
