Yeah, it's a breeding color when they came to my shop they looked more classic and they're not exactly full grown adults either. But, when they started pairing up the stripes on the sides became more distinguished and color contrast increased drastically as well as their eyes changing color to bright greenish yellow.

My shop's in Bend. I probably only have just over 4000 gallons. We're a work in progress and have only been open for just over three months but we're the only game in town besides the big box stores. We're on Facebook if you look up aquatopia tropical fish. It's so much fun (and a lot of work) because my favorite fish have always been monsters but since I opened the shop I'm getting totally into Dwarf cichlids, planted, non aggressive tanks and so much that was never really on my radar and in the process I'm intoducing a ton of people into some awesome fish they never knew existed.. downside- I have to sell them for cheap because they don;t know what they are like tiger dats for $30 but they will :)

What size are those 2? It resembles my female but nothing close to my males. What location is that pair from, Rio Nanchatal, Mojarra Prieta, or Rio Jaltepec?

I can't say for sure the locale because the wholesaler I got them from is pretty generic. But I'll check with them when I talk to them on monday.

Clockwork- No stock list but I can get pretty much anything within reason. I'm not a vendor here so I might be pushing it a little if I continue down that road. you can email me any questions and I can tell you what I can do. I steadily stock dats, silver arowana, peacock bass(monos and occelaris) pike cichlids, dwarf cichlids (apistodave lives nearbye and I get some of his babies- he's the best in the world) Usually have some rays, needlenose, exodons, redbelly piranha, lungfish and a few suprises like my watercow goby "garth" who eats 5 inch fish. I just sold a huge reddragon flowerhorn somebody brought in for 40 bucks because I needed the space.

Nice! The zonatus is one of favorite fish from the Vieja family.. I had a small pair that bred for me not to long ago. Very striking colors on these beautiful fish.. Thanks for sharing..
