just looking for some info,

I think it depends on which type of vieja. Most grow pretty large (12 inches plus) need at least a 75 for a single specimen and are pretty boisterous fish.
 
That is a vieja argentea and a nice one at that. I've heard they grow anywhere between 12 - 14 inches and do well with other large fish capable of defending themselves. I don't know much about them in planted tanks but I would assume they are like most large cichlids and like to dig. I wish I could give more info but I've never kept them. Maybe someone else can add to this.
 
I'd say they need more room than on oscar. 90G+. Most cichlids do not do good with live plants except for Java Moss/Fern. These are pretty scrappy cichlids in terms of aggression and can be boisterous.
