Somewhere lost
Out of curiousity are they legal in NY/PA? I live in NY but plan on moving to PA. These snakes have caught my interest. Also has anyone worked with/kept this snake? If so what is their care. I know they eat lizards and hard to get on mice. So if I can own it I would set up a breeding colony of anoles and house geckos before hard. I also know a minimum of a 3'Lx3'Dx6'T tank is needed and they can't drink from still water, they also need humity over 80%. What other care if needed? It will be at least a year before I get this snake if I can. Yes I know they are venomous but heard they are like hognose like that is this correct?

PA is a paradise for reptile keepers: There are zero regulations on reptiles (including venomous and large constrictors) beyond needing a permit to keep natives.

I was more so trying to figure out NY, if what I read is true it's venom is like a hognose which is legal hear so I was curious if the vine was legal. If not I will just wait in till I move to PA. Which I don't mind doing it will give me more time to prepare for this snake seams how every care sheet I have seen it makes it out to be a hard snake to keep. I live roughly 20 minutes away from PA so I do know they have very little herp laws, which is why I want to move there. Though really all's I want is a burm and a vine snake.
To keep the humidity high I was planning on putting a fogger near the bottom and another by the top, then having a couple of small water falls in the back which go into a small pool that will have a heat pad under it. Would this work to keep the humidity high in a large cage, or do I need to add more? Also I planned on breeding anoles and house geckos as the food. I was going to do a lot of vines and fake plants in there for it. What temps to they need to be kept at and do they need UV lights? There isn't much info I can find on them.

These are hotter than hognose(which arnt considered hot) and as a result are HOT. The venom is still minor though. These are VERY HARD to get eatting mice, and can also eat fish(also hard). There is a reason there number one fan doesnt have one. Id go after the indo variety. Far more beautiful.

These arnt uber hard to care for the trouble is feeding. Anoles aint cheap and this aint a meal a month snake

I know, that's why I would start getting anoles and house geckos soon to breed them and get a good population together before I get the snake. Once the breeding colony is blooming and I have more then I can handle I would get the snake and keep a constant supply with the snake. I do realize they don't eat as little as normal snakes. I like the indo, might get one someday. I am going to wait at least a year before getting the vine after I started getting things ready for it for the reason is their food. If I can't get a good population of feeders for it I won't get it. I don't want the snake to suffer because I can't get good enough food for it.
