I am in the middle of a sump build and am at a point where I need to add some trim for media cages to he held in place. It will be a lot like Jcardona1's wet dry but instead of aluminum trim I'd like to try and use vinyl trim (readily available and cheap).

I'm probably just going to test it via 5 gallon bucket, air stone and a feeder fish but I was hoping that someone out there has used it in a tank/sump/wet dry before and could give some input.
I have no idea why it wouldn't be fish safe seeing as its made from vinyl but I figured better safe than sorry.
Thanks in advance for any info, advice or opinions.
