They like a normal tank temp. for tropicals, like a bit of salt in the water, are sand and gravel sifters, peaceful, prefer soft bottoms like sand or fine gravel, sometimes root up plants, and love tubifex and blackworms. In the wild they are usually found in estuary mouths and tidal marshes among grass type water plants and on silt bottoms, Plants like saggitaria, valisera(sp?) and pygmy swords set in fine gravel with a few pieces of smooth driftwood would replicate that type of habitat nicely. I haven't tried it but I bet they would get on fine with some wood shrimp until they got very large. thinking about it I could picture them in a tank that was lightly brackish and planted with eel or turtle grass and stocked with violet gobies, pipefish, marsh killies, mollies, grass shrimp, wood shrimp, and brackish water hermit crabs.
