Got some viper geckos in a trade over the weekend.

I want to get a couple more as I only have two.

How many can I put in a 10 gal? There seems to not be a whole lot of information out there about them. Any pointers?

So far they are doing great. Active at night, eating, pooping :D

Should I offer a humid hide? ok and last question... when they get to breeding age... where do they lay their eggs?

A friend of mine has a breeding trio of viper geckos. You can easily keep a trio in a 10 gallon. He actually keeps the trio in a 55 gallon with about 4 or 5 of this years grown out offspring. He does have a moist hide in the tank and the babies and young really like to hide in this. I believe they are old enough to breed at 10 months of age but it's best to wait till they're at least a year old. If you're looking for more my friend might sell you a few of his juveniles.

I would also agree a trio would fit best in a 10.

When they are of age for breeding you are going to want to keep a breeding box in the tank for the females to lay in.

Oh yeah, I forgot that part. Thanks Ryan.

My friend has a tiny upside down flowerpot in the tank with them. It has moist moss in it and the females always seemed to lay their eggs under it.

Thanks guys. Both of you. Great to the point quick help. Just the way a board should work :headbang2

I have mine right now in a 5 1/2 gal ( 2 of them) on just papertowels. Piece of cork in the corner to hide under. kept it simple till I got a bigger set up.

I am definately looking for more. Is there a way to get in touch with said friend?

Can I use sand when they get bigger?
