I got an email and phone call from a lady who is dire need to find her fish a home. She lives in Northern Virginia and called me all the way here in Wisconsin. So I am going to do what I do best...rescue fish!

As we all know one of the fish that finds their way homeless are Pacu's. Why is that? Cause pet stores do not share that information on how big these guys get. This fish are currently being housed in a 150 gallon and growing out of it quickly. She needs a new home found ASAP. These are the sizes she sent me:

One is about 14-15" long and 10 pounds.
The other is 10-11" long and 7 pounds.
These are my husbands estimates. I would say they weigh more.

So if anyone is interested in them and have a tank bigger than 150 gallon, please contact me for her contact info. Thanks Everyone! Here is a picture

thats gonna be very tough to find homes
do plan B.........

I know....I rescued one locally about 16". He went to a 500 gallon tank. It will be hard for me to do it with living in Wisconsin...but I am going to try. Found a home for a fish in Texas....hopefully I can get lucky here. ;) So thanks guys.

my beloved pacu.

one of the very few fish thats even too monster for the people on monster fish keepers.

from a keeper of these wonderful beasts, GL finding them a good home. And I commend the owners for being able to admit that the fish need more room than a 180 (which is a real nice size to begin with), and wont be able to eventually provide that:headbang2

Wow those are some big pacu. I know they grow quickly but that much growth in a year...I'm guessing they've been well cared for. Good luck rehoming them.

Thanks....so far no takers or inquiries. As I said she bought them as babies one year ago and the bigger they got, the bigger the tank she bought. She has to stop at a 150 due to lack of room. But she said she had no idea when she bought them they would get this big period as no one at the pet store told her any different. Probably only out to make a sale.

reaching 12" and over in a home aquarium is NORMAL for pacu. imagine what the growth rate must be for a real well fed pacu in the wild:eek:
