I got a 200 watt visi therm stealth in my 55 gallon community tank and its away from the filters flow and the bubbles from my undergravel but ever since day one its been covered in bubbles ???? I wand them away with my hand but they keep coming back. And whats worse is the stealth heater then gets white residue on it from the air pockets ! What gives???

{Edit} Its been under water almost a month now

That's common and expected with new heaters... I don't remember any of mine doing it for a month, but if it were in my tank and was keeping the temp stable I wouldn't worry about it... I would just keep a close eye on consistency...

If you are concerned you may want to send a message to the Visi Therm to register a complaint/concern. If they tell you it's not a problem and it becomes a problem that early concern may give you some levelerage on a claim...

Mine did it for about a week then stopped.

good idea ill ask them about it. Every other object in this particular tank lost its bubbles in 2 days or so.

I have two of the 250-watt stealths in my 150-gallon for over 10-months now.

One is always covered with tiny bubbles the other doesnt have a single bubble on it.

I was worried about it also, upon closer inspection it seems the one heater for some reason has more calcium buildup on it then the other one, even though they were both placed in the tank at the same time.

I was even considering replacing it, just because of the tiny bubbles, but it works fine.

I removed both heaters one time for a cleaning, wiped them both down with white vinger, it seemed to help slightly but the bubbles still remain on the ONE heater (the one that has more calcium buildup) and the other heater never has the tiny bubbles.

I think the tiny bubbles are sticking to the calcium buildup.

I've got two 250W Stealth heaters in two different tanks. I noticed the bubbles at first, but they're gone now.

damnit still covered! in bubbles I took it out today whiped it down and put it back maybe that will help. If not ill try vinegar. Then ill return the bitc* if i have to

When I put a new stealth heater into an established tank I find that the bubbles stay for a few days. I suspect they will not form once the heater has a coating of the bio film that's on most surfaces inside the tank. If this is the case, your wiping it down may be counter productive.
