Just got back from 'The Deep'.

Had a good day but it's far too busy to really take your time and enjoy because as soon as you start looking at something there's people nudging you from behind trying to get in. There's no flash photography allowed, i'm awful at photography with an awful camera so the pics aren't going to win any awards but there are some great fish to be seen!

I'm no Marine biologist, fresh water is my thing so sorry for the lack of fish names.

Huge Puffer

This fish was a beast, it was about 2ft long and amazing to look at!

Sadly he was also very fast which made it very hard to get pics.

The main attraction was a small indoor sea which was 3 stories tall and had many viewing areas including a tunnel.

I'm gutted I didn't get this sharks head in a picture, it had a strange short nose and squashed face.

MOAR!

There were a couple of sharks just chilling on the bottom by one of the glass panels.

The rays were massive too, they came right up to the glass. The pic is poor but it gives you an idea of size.

They had a great section for creatures from the deep including a giant pacific Octopus that must have been about 2 meters from its head to the end of its tentacles but the lighting is so dark you can't make anything out on camera. He had toys and puzzles in his enclosure and he was really active! I accidently left the flash on whilst taking this pic of my little one next to a Wolf Eel, if only I had accidently forgot to take the flash off for the Octopus.

This little fella was great, he was box shaped and freaky looking

Poison Arrow Frogs, not monster fish but monsters in their own right.

There was one huge freshwater aquarium with Arowana, Pacu and Plecs.

The Arowana was huge but he had dropeye.

The people on the left give you an idea of scale.

Nice. Looks like fun.

thanks for the thread very cool would love to see that in person

That's a massive wolf eel!!! Next time I'm in the UK, I'm going.

You never want to have the flash on for cephalopods (octopi, squid, cuttlefish, nautilus). The flash can stress them to the point of lethal eye infections. Once they lose their vision they starve to death. Very sight oriented creatures.

Yeah, they had a guy stood in front of the glass where the Octopus was ensuring people were following the rules, it's just a shame it's impossible to get pics of such an incredible creature!

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Beautiful. I used to know a couple of girls in Hull, too bad I don't speak with them anymore. Could of had a reason to go.
