I just got a new computer with Vista, and was wondering if anyone else has had poroblems with program compatability. Games to be specific. I installed a couple XP games and it told me that they did not install correctly and that they were not compatible but I can actually play the games just fine. The only side affect seems to be the occasional message saying that the games are not compatible but it doesn't come up every time. Strange, I guess its just some software glitch.

With a lot of programs that are not Vista compliant you have to right click them and run as administrator, security prevents the writing of files in the Program Files directory if you are not running as administrator.

The only problem with going back to XP with a new computer is its really hard to find drivers since most new drivers are built for Vista computers now a days.

I agree. I wiped my new computer and it was a pain to find drivers. But it was worth it!

Yea, I turned off all the Vista animations and what not and went to classic mode. Since then I really haven't had any problems. The only thing is my laptop has 1 gig ram so its kinda slow.

Get this.....My new computer came with 512MB and they loaded Vista on it.

First power up out of the box took 15 mins. I thought I'd check Vista out a bit and so I decide to slim it down by unisntalling some of the undeed features. So on my very first attempt to power down my new comp for teh first time, it froze! Stupid Vista! I wipped it off right away! Back to XP!

not to derail but how do you turn the gadgets on....

on a side note... vista sucks eggs

Right click the side-bar and there is an option for the gadgets.

I have not had too many problems with Vista so far except for the wierd game issues but even these have worked themselves out. My PC has 3 gigs of RAM and I guess that might help with the speed issues that others have experienced.
