The google map really puts it into perspective where you can place the spill over any area in the world!

Hopefully this ship will make a large dent!

I dont get these oil spill maps. I mean from the looks of it, oil is EVERYWHERE but its not. I live inside the second lightest grey zone and I spend ALOT of time on the beach and other then a dime sized tar ball here in there it aint nothing.

The media loves to exaggerate and make things bigger then they really are (not saying this is small). Baisically, oil is NOT covering every where that you see on this map.

Good point! I think what they do is say oil is here, and here, and here, and from here to there and just connect the dots, when in reality, with wind, tides, disbursement, and skimming/clean up efforts it is not the case.
