I'm trying to fix the HITH of my pike by feeding it with nightcrawlers injected with Vitachem. Has anyone tried this? did it work? what's your dosage? thanks!

Why are you supplementing them with vitamins? Are you feeding them as a staple?

I've never used one like that. I use the human multivitamins however to include in my fish's dietary menu.

More important with HITH is keeping your nitrates super super low (as far under 10 ppm as possible). I do use VitaChem injected into earthworms, although thankfully I've never had to deal with HITH. I just inject .25 cc or so 3 times a week.

@Lupin: What kind of human vitamins are you using? any noticable effect?
@Penguin: Yeah I'm doing 30 to 50% W/C every other day and is .5cc everyday bad for him?

I'll go so far as to say you'll cure the HITH with those water chanages alone. But of course I have no kind of scientific proof, just lots of reading articles.
I actually would be concerned with .5 cc every day being too much. The only basis I have for saying that is that I know humans can get too much of certain vitamins and more isn't always better (unless we're talking water changes). And keep in mind if you're giving him .5 cc that's the full amount that he's getting since you're injecting it in the worms. That's a lot of anything for a fish that weighs 1-2 lbs. I used to squeeze shrimp dry with a towel and then soak them in the VitaChem and feed them. That worked until several of my Oscars lost their taste for shrimp.

It's either Centrum or Enervon for me. My goldfish rarely fall sick and growing well from that. You can add Vitamin C on their food to boost their immune system.

Thanks, I would probably try some DIY food for my other fish.
