Quarantine Tank
At my LFS I often see vitamin and mineral pyramids for the fish tank. Are they really beneficial or just a scam to get my money? If they are good for the tank, how often should I use them? :)

Come on guyz, I would really like some info on this thread please!!!

 dude just feed your fish regular food like pellet / flakes and feed it frozen food once a week the best it to give it all different kind of food unless they are picky

pretty much a waste and if they are the ones made out of plaster can cause more problems than they could ever solve.Feed your fish a good quality pellet
and or a diverse diet and you'll be fine-Anne

Thanks Anne, you rock! :headbang2

the best suppliments are in liquid form and are most effective when added to the food and/or soaked

dont even bother adding them to the tank

you are just waisting it and your money

Agreed, fresh water fish don't drink water so the aledged "vitimins" are not getting injested.

As stated, a great diet is much better. Soaking your food in products such as Vita chem, Selcon or one of the garlic supplements are very usefull as well.

True. However, fish absorb quite a bit of stuff thru skin and especially gills, and when they eat, I am sure they also get a gulb of water in their mouth.

Nevertheless, I consider vitamin additives unnecessary if you feed your fish a healthy diet.

most water supplies have minerals and trace elements in the water that are absorbed into the body though osmosis. water changes keep these things replenished as nessesary.
