Hi All

Picked up a nice 5" vittatus on saturday. Currently in a 36x15x15" (TEMP). Do you think a 108x30x30" is suitable LONG term. I grew a 5" vitt to about 14" in a 96x24x24", before selling on..
I don't wanna sell this guy on, but can't afford to go 36" wide.
Looking at creating a sump with the return on on side as to imitate a riverine setting. Co-hab will be 5 Polys, 3 synos and maybe 3 odoes and some shoaling characins.

Hi,congrats, great pickup Id say that a bigger tank would be better for vittatus for a permanent keep, for a temp keep it would be ok.

Nice, hes a beauty

I think he'd be good for most of his life ina 108 by 30 by 30. Most only live under 5 years anyway before the get killed/die/commit sueicide get sold ect etc.

IMO

can make up for the smaller tank with steady current. check this out for ideas: http://www.loaches.com/articles/hillstream-loaches-the-specialists-at-life-in-the-fast-lane
