I've thought about my fbt tank over night and I have decided to make a new setup change for them. I was thinking about some sort of divider made of silicon, but I don't know if that is possible. Most people use glass fastened together with silicon, but I don't know if I can use JUST silicon alone. If it's possible, how much would terrarium silicon cost? If it's not possible, how much would it cost to buy a glass divider (bought custom made) with the silicon? Thanks for any advice ahead of time.

you can buy GE silicone #1 at any hardware store for about $3 but I dont think that it will stick to acrylic. you may need to use glass but it won't be more than $30 to get a thin piece cut at any local glass shop.

I think the easiest way to find out would be to call the person / company that you would be getting it from.

Why not cut a piece of clear plastic ( or any color thick hard plastic) and silicone it into place. Same concept just a little cheaper.

Where did acrylic enter the conversation? Anyhow, you don't need to spend $30 on glass. Go to a framing shop and ask for a scrap. They may even cut it to size for you for free or a couple of bucks. Then silicone it in with any 100% silicone; you don't have to use the stuff sold specifically for aquariums, it's just the same as window sealant but repackaged and overpriced. $5 or so total cost.

Do what some others have said. Either use plastic or get a piece of glass cut. A simple small piece shouldn't cost alot at all or try to cut it yourself. GE 1 is the silicone to use.

So... can I use silicon without the glass? I was going to try to make a natural divider for land and water with just silicon.

you will have to use something solid but if you want you could cover the face of the glass with more silicone and stick dirt or rocks to it to hide it.

Or at the same hardware store you could pick up a piece of slate instead of glass and have them cut it to the dimensions you want. It'd be abit more expensive but it'd certainly look more natural.
