On the Rio Araguaia, I wish...
I recently got back from a vacation in Bangkok, Thailand, and Tokyo, Japan and it was really good. I only had a layover in Tokyo so had to chose 1 best shop to visit and was advised on stopping by Vivid. To start, the map I had sucked big time, the scale looked like about 1/4 mile from the subway station to the place and it was really more like 2-3 miles, mind you, I don't speak japanese, and it was torrential downpour outside. Eventually after asking several people on how to get there and making sure I was going the right way I arrived at the most awesome aquarium store bar none that I have ever been to...

I was able to get a few pictures after being told no pics by the first guy then quasi talking to another employee who said pics were fine...so I snapped furiously then yet a 3rd employee saw me taking pics and quickly said no pics again at which point I gave up trying on them so unfortunately many of the coolest fish didn't get photographed. I will list a few of the rare fish however that I saw and post up the pics's that I have. Please excuse the quality of some of the pics, like I said I had to move quick as possible to grab the most pics before getting punked out.

6" AUL, Payara, GATF, Planiceps catfish, ridiculous amounts of baller ($$$$$) asian arowanas, alligator & cuban gar, pacman catfish, 20"+ tigrinus, tons of pirahnas, several rare african lungfish species, and a few that I didn't know what they were but I got a pic of. There was a dat that was pushing 12", a peacock bass that was very dark (probably due to its little aquarium)but had pictures showing that it was a fogo...also other pictures next to that completely contradicting its potential fogoness so I have no clue what it really was.

They had some FRT's about 3-4 babies around 3" but they looked in terrible shape with upturned shelles around the rear and sides and odd scuffing on the shells. With the exception of them and the planiceps (had pretty bad gill curl but given its tank size roughly 6"x6"x6" and the fish being 4" I'm not that suprised by this) every fish was really healthy. A nice selection of common and hybrid rays were there as well. Enjoy! ~Trent

Those prices are pretty expensive I thought but then again I haven't sourced GATF's or anything like that lately. Its about 100 yen to the dollar so that GATF was $680 USD and the Gulper $400 USD. The AUL was like $3000 USD. Here is another random pic not associated with the LFS but from my jungle trip in Thailand, its a school of wild tinfoil barbs all around 10-12" ~Trent

So the picture on the tank of the fogo was insinuating that the pbass in the tank was a fogo? How big and how much was he?

Insane!!!!! I like that tinfoil barbs pic.
