has anyone ever tested their tanks for electricity??? i did and my fresh water read 0.04 volts and my reef tank 0.05 and the control was fresh water in a bucket and it read 0.03 wierd. if anyone else has done this let me know what your readings were.

Was this voltage or conductivity? It makes sense for conductivity to be higher in the tanks where there is more dissolved matter.

From my understanding this 50V was POTENTIAL?
The whole concept gave me a headache. Hence the reason some things are best left alone....LOL
However a ground probe DID eliminate the # on my DMM. But after reading some more decided against leaving it in the tank.

What kind of meter are you using? My guess is that if its a multi-meter, then the readings are below the threshold of error for your meter and you're simply reading noise.
