Vulture on Vulture Aggression

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Have you tried sexing them? I wonder if they were different gender, would that have helped? IDK how to sex them, never looked into that. Just asking.

Lol, I’ll have to add the cost of a divorce into that purchase.

Haha, that's really funny!

I’ve never tried sexing them. I had them from a very small size and I doubt they could have been sexed when they were that small.

It didn't have to be when you were getting them. Just an attempt to understand the current situation better.

Sorry this happened travis. I have nothing to add other than i noticed a change in my vultures behavior at around the 13 inch mark (recently) not overly aggressive but definitely more assertive. I did see him take a couple of swipes at the polys but nothing serious.

Smh. Waiting for the guy to come pick it up.....still !! Should be Tuesday.

Actually just moved him out of the 300 into a smaller tank with couple of plecos. Easier to net when the guy gets here.

Last night i added a little convict to the community tank before i netted the vulture. Little guy maybe 3 inches. Not small enough for the vulture to take down with 1 bite. Everyone completely ignored the con even the big polys. Turned the lights off to see if it would last and instantly the vulture made a B-line right for the con. Missed by maybe 1/4 of an inch. Turned the lights on and he went right back to his spot. Definitely a hunter lol

That’s a bit surprising. Mine still pay no mind to any other fish in the tank. They only started having trouble these last few days. They have calmed down a lot and when I checked on them yesterday the bigger one was back to ignoring the smaller one.

Thats good news. Hopefully just a one time thing. They really are a beautiful fish. Unfortunately I think i underestimated their requirements and would have eventually had to rehome him even if we werent moving. I dont think my tank would be suitable long term.
