I think the pair are breeding at young age, the male is about 3 inches and the female 2.5 inches, I walked in the room where the aquarium is today and they’ve dug many pits and have changed in color abit

Probably so they start breeding at small sizes. The hard part is keeping the pair together for years. I have only seen a couple of people keep pairs together successfully long term.

Yeah same here there not the kindest cichlids in couples

Just an update , the male and female ended up getting a bad case of Bloat and died about a month apart not the best of luck

I had fun with this batch of black nasties but I think I’m gonna try another large cichlid that’s abit more hardy
