Well after my last lil' disaster when I got my first 2 fire eels, my next pair should be arriveing today! The one that survived the PH nuke Is doing really really well in no small fact from the info I got from all of you guys. The tanks been stable as can be now for 2 monthes. :headbang2

I am so bad though. yesterday I saw something I had to have. I'm generally not an impulse buyer, and never something I don't already know what i'm getting into. Normally I am not an Oscar person. I love their personalities but they don't really fascinate me enough to justify purchasing a big tank. Well yesterday I found one at my LFS when I ordered my eels. He only gets in like 6 oscars at a time. and generally very small but very nice ones. I always check 'em out just because they are deffinatey cute "mini monsters" This one I finally did break down and grab is pure solid white, I cna't see any lines of pattern w/ a creamsicle orange edgeing to it's fins that bleed outwards to the tips. he has a few spots on his fins that are the same color. I counted a handful on his dorsal fin. I've never seen an Oscar this color. The closest I've seen is some of oddballs oscars. But he/she is only 4" atm. I'm pretty excited to see him grow up.

I know excited over an Oscar :screwy:

looks like 2 125's are in my future maybe bigger. hehe. glad i'm saveing now for everyone. And I also couldn't resist getting a TT, he gave me a really good deal on one for buying the eels. Lordy lordy.... better get working on a fishroom. And just give it up and admit I have an addiction...:naughty:

I'mna have to figure out how to take some pictures and get them up. my original fire eel came in around 10" and is now almost 14" I'm pretty confident. The 2 I'm getting today should be in the 10" range and the TT will be about 6" he'll go in a different tank maybe indeffinately. but I may try houseing them all together at some point. seems most people say it won't work. the tank is pretty much all pvc tubes and driftwood. not the most appealing visiually, but very efficent and my current eel cruises around alot. so he must enjoy it. tank is still barebottom though since i'm still figureing out what kinda sand to use =/ or even at this point if it's worth it. doesn't seem to bother my guy he can't burry himself.

good luck with your new eels and oscar. since you are going for efficient tanks and not the best looking, bare bottoms are easy to take care of. also with your caves i think they should do just fine. do what you are happy with and what makes your fish happy. also you would need a bigger tank in the future for your eels anyway so any excuse to buy a bigger tank is a good excuse lol

WoW... I acclimated the new eels and they are both looking great. The only thing I did not expect is my current eel to be so territorial! The first 2 hours after introing the new ones into the tank he/she was chaseing them around anytime they'de come near his home. I actually had to put my hand in the tank at one point and softly swat/nudge my older guy away from the new ones. One of them is even as big as my current one! BUt not as thick, yet ;) They came in bigger then I expected! I'm amazed at the intelligence of these fish. after I put my hand in and paid my older guy some attention and handfeeding he settled down O.o or maybe he was just to full to actively persue the other 2. for lack of better words he smelled my hand and went to go after the newer one as I put my hand between them and I scootched him away. Like you'de scould a dog a naughty puppy. and he settled down and ate some bloodworms from me. Even laid down next to one of the new ones. was weird... wish i woulda caught it on video.

Anyone else have aggression issues with introduceing new eels in with an already established one?

Just got home from work and my older guy is parked in his spot and the other 2 found their own spots it seems. neither looks worse for wear for the night. deffinately going to keep an eye on them. The TT burried itself into the fine gravel of my other tank and I haven't seen him since. But it's duct taped off really well and I did my usual inspection around the tank.

These guys are deffinately my favorite fish now.

yeah i have the same problem, i just purchase one today, and the first fire eel is super territorial. mines are only 5-6 inch each in a 55 gallon let me know how yours are doing :) best of luck to you though ;)

glad the eels are doing good. one thing when introducing any new fish or eel that seems to help is rearrange the tank. this has always seemed to work great for me plus it is ussually less stressful on the new fish since everyone is looking for a new hiding spot

:iagree:

when i introduced a second peacock eel to my tank, the current inhabitant went ballistic, so i just rearranged a bit and they actually now share a pvc tube:screwy: and since then, using this technique i was able to introduce two more,:headbang2
