Wal having a temper

in the past week my wal has been getting more and more violent and very aggresive to me even cleaning his tank. checked all water parameters everything is good across the bored. he gets fed every other day two talpia filets. tank is a 270gallon. no tank mates just him. he will charge at the tank if your standing by it also.is this normal for them to act like this outta the blue ive had him for 1.5 years now and hes never acted like this before. any ideas Mfker's?

That's just how WALs are; they sometimes get a bit psycho once they hit a certain size.

Oh okay good to know though something was up with him will he ever mellow out or is it get worse the older they get ? Does diet have anything to do with temperament?

From my understanding, it's mainly an age/size thing; it will probably mellow out towards you once it gets much bigger, though. The only dietary factor I can think of would be live prey resulting in a more aggressive fish.

How are its eyes? Are they clear or are they clouded over? You may want to consider providing it will some plant matter (algae wafers, etc.) as well as other sources of protein besides tilapia fillets as well.

his eyes are clear. he does sometimes get crayfish. and the odd apple snail.

Mine turned mean(er) and just got worse with age. In time, even his feeding pattern changed. At first he would hunt for what he smelled. Later, as soon as he smelled food in the water he would literally start biting everything in sight (wood, rocks, heater) until he bit the right thing!
