. I don"t really hold them responsible for this act, because it is something that is being carried out all over the globe. Each and every Wal-Mart has this as their TESTIMONY. Frustrated fish owners, diseased and dying fish and people that never want to experience this again.
This is why Wal-Mart selling specialized fish like the GSP, Dragon fish, Snake head, Oscars, Paco, Silver Dollars, Bala Shark, Plecostomus, etc. suck.
I'm not sure how, but this chain has to be stopped from exploiting the specialized fish to new fish keepers.People that don't know yet what they are buying, how to take care of it or how important it is to do your homework first.
Our lakes, streams, toilets, and trash cans are filling with this kind of exploitation of our hobby that we love, so that Wal-mart can see a bigger profit on their fish sales.
The law keeps coming up with more reasons to cut you and I that are in the hobby for life, out of what was acceptable to buy, ship and to keep. And for good reason. The more that our hobby is taken as a joke and sold by untrained people, cared for by untrained people and the specialized fish are bought buy untrained people, the more the law has to step in and take over.
Wal_mart has it's place in our hobby, It's the beginner. Simple strong fish at a low cost to get people thinking and reading about their new hobby and in that a real fish keeper may be born.
We all have to start out somewhere in the hobby, I did (Guppies). My local Wal-Mart quit selling guppies. Go figure?
