Just curious how good other people's WAL's vision is. I'm pretty sure mine can tell when I walk in the room because he swims up to the front of the tank looking for treats, but when I feed him it seems like he can't see where the food is at all and relies on scent to find it. This usually involves a lot of swimming around excitedly until he gets within a few inches, and then he can hone in on it. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

They seem to be able to see light and shadow but that seems roughly it, when they hunt for food they rely on food and vibration

Nice I really prefer hand feeding fish, as it allows you to examine your fish and is more enjoyable .
Yes it is ! Ive got my eyes on the other one at the same pet store, we got her from it was brought back due to killing the fish it was keep with. Its not feeding well so im hopeing to go offer it some worms and bond with it so i can work a deal on it .

Cool since your in alabama have you considered a outdoor pond with floating plants during the warm period? This would replicate wild conditions and can be quite pretty
