Walking Catfish Size?

Anybody got any idea how big a walking catfish can get?

Wikipedia says 30 cm...

I take it you mean Clarias batrachus which can reach 24" but, usually around 16" in aquaria. There are several species of Clarias cats. C. gareipinus grows to twice the size of C. batrachus.

24"... so 72 cm? (sorry...more used to the metric system) Whoa! That's huge! Got two of these cats... one is a little under 30 cm and the other one about 25 cm... they are gluttons... guess they will make that 16" (48 cm) size in no time... pheew!

Yes ,agree-abot 16,mine spawning at 13,5 and 12,5 but they are only ONE year old !

Walking catfish can grow to 1 meter given big enough space for them to grow. I saw one in a pond near my house. African walking cat fish can grow even larger, more than 1.5 meter. My uncle keep 5 African cat fish in a cement tank and they are enormous.

I have 11 albino walking catfish. I bought them 1 year ago at 1 inch size. Now they are about 12 inch in size. There are fast grower and consume a lot of food. They eat everything and require frequent water change.

I don't plan to have that many. I purposely bought that many because I thought that many of them would not make it to adulthood since there were so small baby. Now that all of them survive, I need to buy another 75 gallon tank to house them. I just transfer them from 15 gallon to 30 gallon. Still a bit cramp.

I need to change their water once a week. If I feed them less the water can survive for 2 weeks.
