Wall Paint and Tanks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Latex (water based) paint should not be an issue but I would still have good ventilation in the room, maybe a fan in the window blowing out of the room.

I really like the idea of shrink wrap and an air pump from the adjacent room. If you want t throw some science into it, the lower your total dissolved solids in your water the more aggressive the water will be in adsorbing pollutants from the air. Example: RODI water is VERY aggressive in clinging onto particles in the air.

ok thanks! because the room is in the center of the house fans will definitely be blowing. Could I use kitchen cling wrap as the sealant on top?

You could but just about anything would work as long as any air transfer was from inside the tank heading out. For example, I used a sheet of insulating foam like you might use under a concrete garage pad or on the outside of a house foundation. There was some leakage of air but all that meant to me is that if I put a bunch of air in the water column inside the tank all leakage would be one way and in my favor.

The one thing you want to make sure of is that your setup is solid. You don't want an airstone popping off and the airline floating around, don't want the pump to be iffy, etc. as you won't be popping the lid off for a couple days.
