So i just picked up a 6 or 7" WA, and a he's a beautiful and fiesty little ****er. Anybody got any care tips from personal experience? Also how big you have you seen them get in the home aquarium, i know in the wild its over 6', but i'd like to see how big he gets here. Seems like these guys are live feeders and thats about it, he swallowed 3 feeders the minute i got him home. Thanks for any and all info you guys got on them. Post some cool pics too! thanks!

Care tips, generally ok with fish that are very big and different shape, that can't be eaten or even perceived as a meal. Pacu, XXL cichlid etc.Biggest one I have seen is 36" and the girth of 20" girth, but that was in a 1,000 litre tank, I'm sure that in a mega tank/public aquarium it would attain 5' or 6' no problem. That and leeri are great fish.

IS IT PRETTY SAFE TO SAY that ATTUS/LEERIS are pretty much JUST Predatory as opposed to being the aggressive killers everybody talks about them being

when I hear the word aggressive UMBEES, FAHAKAS, DOVIIS, WYCKII, etc.... come to mind

Predatory: Red tail cats, tiger shovelnose, oscars,etc.....

thanks for the posts guys......this is my favorite looking fish i've had. He's in a tank with a similar sized timensis and a giraffe cat.......they all seem to get along decently. as long as plenty of food is constantly available. I'll post pics of his growth progress! Can't wait to grow him out to over 30+ inches!

A tip I'd recommend is to be sure you keep that tank top lid weighed and covered... at ALL TIMES!!

W. attu are extremely strong jumping fish, and have very keen precision eye vision. I had a wallago that grew extremely fast in a very short matter of time... i'm still trying to figure out how it jumped out of my tank that had full glass tops/lids and a canopy on it?!! :uhoh: My advice... Always keep the tops/lids weighed down!! :headbang2

O yea thats another thing they jump like no other fish!! I was doing a water change and this thing just flew out of my tank at leat 3-4 feet high and landed about 4 feet away from the tank on some clothes.....so have a very strong lid!!

ill definitely keep that in mind, regarding the top. He has been eating so aggressively, its great. With water changes, i know he'll be growing like crazy.....he never stops eating......

Hi, I guess ur thread's pretty old by now.

Anyway, I hope you know that W.Attu is called the man-eating catfish.

Don't try and find out why......

They've been known to try and bite the person feeding so be careful.

Also since the date u posted this thread, how much has ur cat grown..?
