Ive had this guy for a few months bought him oct 4th at 4", he is now 12" been trying to get him off feeders with no sucess, any tips or tricks? Its hard because he only eats with all the lights in the room off and usually the silver aro eats everything on top and the bichirs eat everything on bottom as soon as it goes into the tank.

Have you tried to target feed him with lights off. I dont know about with this particular species but many have reported success qith various things soaked in garlic extract to get cats to feed. Personally i just always cut off feedings and offer only the foods i want my fish to eat. Usually in a few days/few weeks of patience on my part the fish will eat whatever is there. Others feel free to chime in as i have no exp with this species or genus even. :)

Also i have always been able to get my cats to feed during the day if food is offered only during the day. But first things first get the fish off live then you can work on that.

Really depends on the idividual fish health and size but generally i dont start worrying until about 2-3 weeks without eating. Ive had some large catfish fast for months. Once my 3' hybrid went on a 5-6 month hunger strike after a tank move and then one day it just started scarfing again.
