ok so i have some space to fill and im wondering what the smallest type of dat there is out there, how big do they get? and whats is the minimum sized tank for them, i have 2x29 gallon tanks (on is my convict breeder) the other is my fry growout. then after my fry grow out they go into either my 55 or my 75 gallon tank, then when they get even bigger they go into my 125 gallon tank. i am seriously thinking about getting either a 240 gallon or a 300, but for now im undecided. so can any of you pro dat keepers help a loner out?

anyone?

Ngt-get about 12''-kept 1 per tank due to aggression towards eachother.
NTT(thin bar)-12''
Those two are the smaller dats. I believe AT's(silvers) get 12'' as well. Indo's and ST's get 18+.

what size tank would be recomended for the NGT and the NTT? would my 125 be good until i upgrade?

yeah thats fine they are slow growers

heads up ngt are ugly lol and ntt in shy n hides lol st are a ton of money and hard to find but indos are every where right now need a good home if u got one and they look great and mine at least never hide

my tank has just enough hiding places for my catfish and thats it. if i got a NTT it would have to fight my 14" pleco and three catfish for there spot. my other section of semi hiding spots are just a bunch of plants clustered together, but the tank is in my room with only me and my brother on occasion will showing any activity in that room. i will look around at some pictures of the NGT and NTT and see what i think, im a sucker for an odd looking fish. and dats are one of my favorites.

ntt is beautiful aswell just shy and dont worrie if the ntt dosnt want to be seen it wont it will hid behind ur filter heater othr fish or go unstable at the bottom and blend in

i constantly trying to find ways to decorate my tank to allow visibility to my fish, yet still keeping them out of sight and comfortable as long as someone doesn't go looking through the tank.

does anyone know where i can get a ntt dat? i've been looking through some vendors and the marketplace adds and can't seem to find ntt or ngt, as im willing to house either or..

datnoids are slow growers once they hit 5" marker. so a 55-60 gallon will last you a pretty good amount of time. but that depends on how many you are getting.

ph lvl should be at 7-7.5
water temp. between 82-89
more filteration the better.
live plants are optional
you can leave the tank bare or with sand. i prefer sand because its easier to clean left over food.

smaller they are feed them 2 times a day. something small enough to fit their mouth. such as live black worms or blood worms then you can gradually move up to something bigger as in krill. *Note* datnoids love krill its like fish crack too them.

as far as the ngt's go get them in odd numbers. they tend to be aggressive when there is a pair.

tankmates- arowana, clown loaches, cories. other species of datnoids. peaceful cichlids. catfishes, only certain types such as cories synodontis pictus cats. tigs.
you can also add bichirs like the albino senegal, delhezis somewhat peaceful types. iwouldnt recommend Endlicheri, congius, bichir bichirs. with little datnoids.

and do small amount of water change once or twice a week if your not over feeding them. and that should be about it.

alot of steps but its pretty simple stuff to remember after a while. GL with the fish keeping.

thank you, i have a 75 in which i just have some fish in to say they are there. they don't need to be. i could use that to grow them out, then after they get big enough i can put them in my 125. is that a good plan? i have blue gravel in my 75.. should i change it to sand, as i have wanted sand substrate for a while now but haven't had the reason to do so. and my last question, does anyone know where i can get some NTTs or NGTs? i've been looking around and can only find ITs or ATs, i can't find any others.
