wanna do a ply build

i wanna try my wood working skills and build a ply tank. i wanna try smaller at first then ill try a bigger tank later. i was thinking around a 40-60 gallon would be decent size. i want to do a sump system also. i havent had a sump system before. does anyone have some sort of diagram to help me understand how to put a simple one together. also what kind of GPH would anyone recommend. thanks for the help and i plan on starting this little project one the first of the month. thanks guys

How about building the first test tank as box with no window and if it holds water, then build the big tank and use the test tank as the sump.

thanks a bunch i hope doing a fresh water sump will be a lil easier but all in all good info. thanks. i plan on using this setup in a ply tank build that im gonna be starting

I agree with bass just build your sump first you'll get all the practice you need with fibreglass just doing that. Building a 60 gallon tank isn't worth the money your going to spend.

well i was wondering do you have to fiberglass all ply tanks or can you do something else to seal the tank

There are several ways to water proof your plywood. Just have a read through all the plywood build threads here in the DIY section.
