I'm wanting to add a eel to my shark and ray tank, but I also have several tangs and butterfly fish with the sharks so it cant be anything too aggressive.
I had a nice zebra eel but apparently he was a snack for my grouper, the eel was almost 16 inches and the grouper is only 6 inches. the grouper isn't going to be in the tank with the eel so that's not a issue, I was considering getting another zebra eel but kinda wanted something different this time. Would a tessalatta eel be an option or possibly a dragon eel? If these are too aggressive let me know and I am open to any opinions on better eels or any tank mates you wanna recommend. thanks

I would say no to the Tess. heard to many horror stories about them tearing fish in half just for fun. I had a Whitemouth moray which I think are beautiful eels and get to about 30" or so. Another one is Golden Eel ( not dwarf) which is a cool looking one too. If you contact Toms Caribbean Tropicals.com I think he can line you up with last one or I can line you up with a diver in Hawaii for the Whitemouths or a Dragon.

yea its 1200 and the smallest fish I have is a 4 inch butterfly fish

dam so your going to need a non fish eater. Yet something that will be noticable in a 1200 gallon..... Honestly man your going to be gambling if you don't do a chainlink moray, snowflake or a zebra. I guess my best advice would be another zebra just because they don't eat fish, and grow big enough to really add to a tank. You don't have to many other options just because the tank is SO big and the fish are so small.

What would be really stunning is a garden of garden eels. Check out in this video they are really stunning creatures and sway in the current. A back of 10-20 would look really cool in your tank at 1:05

I did have some baby fish with my green moray for quite some time. Like all great things, they eventually fail.

wow expensive feeders you got there lol

those garden eels look interesting, very long and seem to need a very deep bed of sand
