Amongst the Catfish & Plecos
My mother in law caught this the other day in a canal next to her home in Southern Florida. They thought they just caught another pbass, but I suspect it is a very large spotted tilapia. They said it was at least a foot. I don't know my cichlids very well, so I thought I'd ask you guys. What do you think?

Definitely tilapia, catch them at at fairfield all the time, couldn't tell you any specifics about it though.

Tilapia Mariae! I believe that they used to be the most common cichlid in the canals but mayans most likely have that honor @ present.

hmm hes an ugly liddle feller aint he? look at that little chubbster

definitely Tilapia mariae....very common in most areas down here.

You guys have ended up with all sorts of cool stuff down there (for better or worse).

that's the biggest one i've ever seen!

Everything gets bigger than its 'supposed to' down there. I caught a common pleco down there that was about 2'. I kicked myself for not having a measuring tape. Next time I'm down there, I'm not going anywhere without it.
