Hey Guys,
I'm new here and don't have nearly as big of tanks and fish as everyone else around here. I have a 90 gallon right now as a in-between tank for my red tail catfish and hybrid and gar. My catfish are awesome and will grow huge. The gar is interesting i am just looking for another tankmate that is interesting. I understand that the 90 is very small for them and they are only staying in there for 2 more months until my house is done. Then everyone is going to move to a 210. I plan to have a custom tank built in the next year or so that's hopefully going to be around 500 gallons maybe more. I want to get another tank mate for the long haul that will be good with everyone. I was thinking of a Clown knife or Pacu or a peacock bass. I really want a rainbow snakehead or some pretty snakehead like that but i live in Texas in the US and they are impossible to find here. I don;t particularily like arawanas unless they are beautiful and not silver(like the gold or red or blue arawannas) and i hate Cichlids.
Anyone got any recommendations?

Also just a question but if i put a small clown knife/ any carnivore in my feeder fish tank will he grow very quickly or will he die because of the high ammonia levels due to the feeders. I have a filter rated for up to 50 gallons on the 29 gallon.

I would get the larger tank before u start to buy fish. And when looking to get tank mates for the RTC I would go as big as possible as he will most likely out grow and eat most tank mates. You could go with some large cichlids such as oscars or p bass may work. A knife may work but it should be double the size of the cat when introduced.

I have some peacock bass and a clown knife and would defo recommend them.

The rainbow sankehead won't work because it's too small and it's sub tropical so wouldn't do well.

I wouldn't put fish into water you know is bad. They will just get cloudy eye and die

I have a 230 gallon tank already so I'm not worried about him outgrowing just yet. And I have lots of tanks so if I have to move fish around no biggie. I think imma get a clown knife. I wanna get a rainbow snake to go in a different tank btw. But alas I cannot get them

Is there anyplace to order the freshwater stingrays? What water conditions do they like?

I wouldn't put a stingray with a rtc. The rtc will fold tht thing up an eat him like a taco. And I'm no expert but stingrays are pretty dirty and need very high water quality and bi weekly water changes and seeing as rtc are really dirty I don't think they would be a good match up. And stingrays get big... So you'll need a big depth. As to tank mate for the rtc be careful of the clown. Had a tsn x rtc hybrid eat a clown knife tht was the same size as him with ease
