want this false water cobra

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hm. They seem to be quite agressive and huge and (mildly) venomous. I don't know if that is a good combination for keeping. Also since they are kinda aquatic I wonder how their setup might have to look like?

other than the mild venom of course and size. Makes it more entertaining.

^ Agreed...LOL

Go for it!!!!

Is the venom lethal? The chinese water snake for example has a venom that isn't fatal but acts as an anti-coagulant, so you'll bleed for a while longer than normal if it bites you.

not lethal at all. I have been bit by one and it amounted to a mild rash and some localized swelling. nothing more than that. these guys are really cool to keep and are not as aggressive as people think. they can be tamed down with a bit of handling but when you first start with them you have to be prepared to take a few bites. It is just a part of the hobby. Also, do not get excited about the "false cobra" part of them because they will almost never hood up and it makes them look like a regular water snake 99.9% of the time. My friend kept them successfully in a 4' by 1.5' enclosure with a cat liter box filled with water to allow for soaking/ swimming.

sorry you cant get it jason, you should just come live in FL, you dont even need a permit for them here. and the way things are going, you might be able to catch one down south. haha.

or you could always get it and just tell everyone it is a common water snake. I promise no one would be able to tell the difference.... Just kidding, we don't want you to get into trouble now do we?
