i got a gator gar about three weeks ago, it hes been eating fine but ,it stays on top on one side of the tank. also it arches its back constantly when swimming or at rest. i did not get it like this . it just started doing this.the gar also is pale.not showing its colors. have any idea of the problem anyone!!!!!!:eek:
 
Need a pic. Gars are notorious for breaking their backs from hitting a wall of the tank. That's why I keep mine in a round tank. The curved walls cause them to have a glancing hit if they run into it.
If his back isn't bent all the time, Provide him with a thick mass of floating plants (live or artificial). Young gars are prey to large fish, including other gars, in the wild and the cover will provide them with a sense of security.
