I've been keeping African Rift Lake cichlids for over two years now and have yet to produce a decent photo! It's embarrassing because I've always believed myself to be an adequate terrestrial photographer.

I'm blaming the camera until I find out otherwise.:-D I know better lighting will help, but I've also seen good photos with built-in flash or room lighting. I'd like to take the best photos possible with my camera first, and then upgrade at year-end. Meanwhile I'll be doing my homework on a new camera.

Welcome to APF, X! Please tell us your proper name.
Please read and learn (and above all, look at the pictures )

Well I ended up buying tanks instead of camera's last year, but now it's time to start Christmas shopping for 2009. Pros and cons of Canon EOS Rebel T1i?

welcome and nice to meet you

OK first pic with Nikon, kit lens and flash, all auto settings.

It's pretty good. Just a little 'dirty desat' with the high ISO settings.

BTW, it's not the camera. It's your setup. It's missing a key component- the external flash.

That's what I was hoping, that it was not the camera. I'm trying to order mrlimpet's flash set up now. Can't wait!
