I'm getting a Red Tailed Cat for my 300-gallon indoor pond. I read somewhere that it's a good idea to put a piece of hollow PVC tubing in the tank so the cat can hide some where. Does anyone know if there is some kind of FW-safe clay or material I can place around the pipe and sculpt to look like a real log?

I use terracotta chimney flue liners. You can find them, at hardware stores/building supply stores, with openings from 4" to 36" and lengths to several feet. And, they're usually much less expensive than terracotta planters.

They can also be cut with a wet tile saw to give them a custom look or to size them for your system.

you can use sculpting clay they have at schools or the one they had at my school! from way back when! all they are is special kind of natural mud and water! then just put them in a kiln glaze them then put them in a kiln again!
