so... I've really always wanted a chameleon, and I finally decided I'm going to get one pretty soon. I've been occupied on a massive fish tank lately, and was wondering how cool it would be to have a matching enclosure right next to the tank with a chameleon.

I'd kinda like to have maybe something else in there with it, being as this is going to be a 5' tall enclosure... I considered 2 chameleons or.... is there anything else that may work?

The chameleon I had planned on was just the basic run of the mill crested one. Nothing too flashy.

I know a snake would be stupid, but ground dwelling lizard that doesnt get very big... a gecko perhaps... i dont know... Im shooting in the dark here

The Tank is going to be full of rock, with no plants, I was thinking the reptile side would follow the rock them, looking like an old temple brick wall with Vines and a log on sand...

I'll shut up now and listen up:grinno:

A rock dwelling chameleon would be new to me.
IMO always use plants housing a chameleon.
Also I thought they could be very territorial, but you'll have to check in online caresheets.
Some smaller chameleon species could perhaps live well together.

I've personally never seen chameleons housed together....chameleons especially veield are very aggressive towards ther chameleons...and the keepers. I've seen vids of jackson chameleons being held by people and they seem not to be stressed. Like what paul said ventilation is the most important thing for chameleons and like ollile said plants are a must. If thier are reptile shows and they sell chameleons they should have plants in flower pots which are good, then you could add branches of some kind or the vines from exo terra (i think that brand).

Good Luck, also keep lots of crickets on hand, Captive Bred is best...and these are show animals so little to no handling is appreciated by chameleons.

Update us lol this sounds interesting

lol... no, not rock dwelling, rock background... with vines and a tree or something for it to perch on...

@Paul... no not glass, just a matching frame is where I was going.

@Pazzo... I was thinking a M/F pair... does that not work... if not I'll scratch that Idea...

I'll try and render a half *** drawing of the plan on MSpaint and post that up Thanks guys and gals... I'll be back to update soon

ok... here it is... sorry it looks like a kindergarden fingerpainting...

That diagram looks pretty cool, when the project is done better get an actual pic! Lol hope you get this done...I wish I would have that kind of set up. As for a chameleon pair...I guess you would be ok for awhile...probably the male will soon get more agressive and harm the female. If I was you I would contact a reptile breeder and ask them that very question. I'll get some links for you so you can contact the breeder through email/phone.

nice... thanks bud... yeah... I'm working on the tank part now... in the supply scavenging stage, everythings going to be hand built by me... so it's probly going to take QUITE A WHILE.

Im building a 360g tank with a 100g trickle... so yeah... , after that, a screened in wooden cage would be no sweat...lol

Lol good luck with the build...you should post a thread with pics on your process to the finish product. Those threads are always the best to read lol....that tank is going to be sick lol are you running salt or fresh?
