So my local fish store has a south american lung. They are selling him for $60 and he has had it rough at this store. He was ripped to shreds by a few ck a few months back bt now he looks good. He followed my hand when I was at the store which drew me in. He is around 18 inches maybe and he's been there for around 6 months maybe longer. I have a 75 I'm willing to empty just for him and then set up my 125 I'm gonna buy. Should I do it or no?

I wouldnt do it unless your willing to upgrade tanks down the road. Also make sure you have good filtration

Would it be bad to keep it with a few cichlids. I have a gt, grammodes, and red devil all female

You can try it but aggression may become an issue. SAL are one of the few lungs that can be kept with tankmates

I was told they will be fine in a 125 for a while since they aren't very active fish. I had a WAL about a year and a half ago but they aren't tankmate friendly

Yes 125 will be suitable for awhile thats why i said go for it as long as you have the space to upgrade eventually

Well they would have to live in a 75 but I'm not sure I wanna keep the grammodes and the gt because I have 2 freddys and 8 freddy/dovii hybrids growing out right now. I've missed my old lungfish and my wife only goes to this store so she can see the lungfish
