a monitor and my mom said i could get one but i have a choice between a savanh and nile monitor i always wanted a nile but could he live in my sunroom year round and only have to be moved in on cold nights. oh and i just wanted to see what i should get a savanh or nile.

think of some more imaginative thread titles dude. i preferred the colouring of the savannah

A Savannah would be easy in a large room, if you have the setup. And definitely give more info in the title of the thread.

fine lol i give more info well the title dosent realy count just hold your mouse over the title and u get more info

dude get a savannah, I think they are a better lizard to keep. They stay smaller than niles and they are usually more handleable.

As a first monitor a savannah is much easier to care for due to its size and temperment. You will still need a heat source in your sunroom. Savannahs require a basking spot between 100 to 145 degress, I keep mine at 120 degrees (the monitor in my avitar), I have never kept niles but they also need high heat. If you like the color of the nile go for a yellow monitor or an argus. They are a little more pricey because they are always captive bred but they are normaly less agressive. (However, argus can still be pretty fiesty) And in my opinion the very best beginer monitor is the ackie monitor. (A.K.A. the ridgetailed monitor)

If mom still makes the rules what is going to happen when you move out? These lizards get really big, and a dorm or studio apt. may not be practical.
If you want a cool mean lizard that stays fairly small check out columbian black and wjite tegus.
I have a friend who keeps hers in a medium vision cage. That kind of cage could be hidden in a closet, or set on a table.
Giant reptiles are almost impossible to rehome, so unless you are sure what the next 10-15 years looks like, maybe something smaller would be better.

i like the nile's as i said i always wanted one. im not new to monitors but my first one died(savanah monitor) but it died of a bowel problem.
