JUST have skills to catch one or hire a bounty hunter(fisherman) to get one for you.

but what if it is illegal size.i would talk to the local dnr person and let them know you are catching one.if they say no just have some 1 else get you one.

Yes, I'm aware that I COULD catch one myself, but there's only a remote possibility that I could arrange a fishing trip. The legal size here in NY is 12" I believe, so that's perfect - I'd like to find one in the 12-14" range.

i got about a 4 inch one that i have had for about a month, eats real good, cant seem to get him on pellets but any live food he loves!! i could see if i could get a larger one but i only have a 55gal to keep them in so it def wont be a 12 inch one.
