I am hopefully picking up a 300 gallon tank today and placing it as a wall divider between my entry and living room. I say hopefully, due to weather today.

It will be a freshwater African Cichlid tank. Any advice or recommendations both technical and or just for esthetics? Words of Wisdom? Cool things you have seen that I should take a look at and maybe incorporate.

Reccomendations:
Technical
Filtration
Heating

Thanks in advance,

If it will be visable from two sides I would go with an over flow on one side, return on the other and have a large sump/bio tower under the tank. I would also build the stand so that the two ends are closed in and maybe even have the stand go floor to ceiling, so that the fish will be the main focal point of boath rooms.

Cool, ideas. Thanks and keep them coming.

I should clarify that I am getting the top, stand and tank today and it will be visible from both long sides and one end.

Thanks again,

Don't forget to show us some pictures!!!

Congrats on the new tank!

Ahhh Maaaaannn!!!!!

I am still a wantabe MFKR!

I looked at a used 300 gallon tank yesterday and it was not good.

I have begun doing my homework on new equipment though I will keep my eye on craigslist as well.

Thanks for all of your responses,

make sure you consider the enormous weight for your floors when you do get that monster tank. tanks over about 150 gallons or so can need reinforcement under normal residential floors if it is on the second level and up..

just a heads up to consider stuff like this.

good luck in your search for the monster tank
