where can i go to read a good article on a beginner's guide to keeping stingrays? I'm near L.a. ,Cal. When i was in san Diego, I saw some very small ones swimming in a channel when the tide was going high.I don't want to get one if it's quite a hassle to keep. Does anyone know what kind reside in San Diego? They did have spots on the top and are light brown .Anywhere i can go to read on this?

Would a 55 gallon be too small for this kind? I would have very few rocks in there and maybe a small Moray Eel.Fluidized filter.

Never mind,"The Round Stingray is also known as the California Stingray. It is a bottom dwelling fish, with a brown body and yellow spots. The tail spine is venomous, but is only used for protection. Caution should be taken when netting it, or when it is not visible and maintenance is performed in the aquarium. The Round Stingray prefers cooler water temperatures and should only be kept by an experienced hobbyist. It requires a 180-gallon aquarium with water temperatures between 68 and 75 degrees. The aquarium itself should have at least a two foot width from front to back for an adult.

I have 6 of the California Round Rays and are a hardy Ray. No one I have heard of has seen them grow more than 12" accross. If you are a beginner at saltwater I would'nt keep Ray's. They need more than a 6x2 footprint unless they are small pups and then as adults something much bigger since they are very active much of the day and when the lights are on. You could catch your own if you are set up for it. They are very personable and can pet and hand feed them.
