wants to start ciclids

I would like to get a ciclid tank and i'm lookin at my 55 to do it i would like to know witch ones stay smaller, I have Heard some stay 4-5 in'. I would also like a alot of color like the bumble bee ciclid and the alice? the blue one with the yellow fins and some other colored ones. What can i do for maintenance fish and tank mates any info would be great thanks.

I wouldn't recommend getting bumble bee cichlids as I believe they get quite large, and are very aggressive. If your looking for lots of color, go for an all male peacock tank, and of course you "need" a group of 6 or 7 synodontis luccipinnis. They are a blast to watch!

I had a kenyii and johanii mixed with a red peacock 3 Neolamprologus pulcher and a synodontis featherfin (featherfin squeeker, fun name :-D ) and a pike cichlid (i know the pike's a SA/CA cichlid but i was in like 8th grade and just really wanted it) and everything worked out well. the male kenyii ran the tank until the pike cichlid was added which is when everything got a lot more peaceful...
